5 Days Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Your safari begins with a morning pickup from Arusha and a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, the home of Tanzania’s largest elephant populations. The park is known for its iconic baobab trees, sweeping savannah, and large herds of buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and wildebeests.
Enjoy a full game drive searching for wildlife, including the park’s famous predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs. In the afternoon, proceed to your overnight area near Tarangire/Lake Manyara region.
Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro highlands toward the world-famous Serengeti National Park. You will arrive in the afternoon and immediately begin a game drive across the endless plains, known for their unmatched population of big cats.
Look out for lions resting on kopjes, cheetahs scanning the plains, elephants, and vast herds of herbivores. In the evening, settle into your camp area inside or near the Serengeti.
Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti
Spend the entire day exploring the Serengeti. This is your best opportunity to spot the Big 5, particularly lions and leopards. Your guide will take you through prime wildlife areas, riverbanks, and savannah plains.
Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration herds of wildebeest and zebra moving across the Serengeti ecosystem. Sunrise and afternoon drives offer the best lighting for photography.
In the evening, relax and enjoy the Serengeti sunset.
Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Begin with an early morning game drive in the Serengeti, taking advantage of predator activity before sunrise. Afterward, drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with game viewing en route.
In the afternoon, you will arrive at the crater’s rim, where you can enjoy spectacular views of one of the world’s most impressive natural wonders. Overnight near the crater area.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Lake Manyara – Arusha
Start early and descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to nearly every major wildlife species, including black rhinos, lions, hyenas, elephants, and large hippo pools.
After exploring the crater, continue to Lake Manyara National Park for a short afternoon game drive. Lake Manyara is known for tree-climbing lions, flamingos, and a lush groundwater forest filled with monkeys and elephants.
Later in the day, drive back to Arusha—marking the end of your unforgettable 5-day safari adventure.
