6 Days Tour Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Your trek begins at Marangu Gate, where registration and briefing take place. From here, the trail leads through dense rainforest filled with monkeys, birds, and lush vegetation. The path is well-made and slightly sloped, making it ideal for a comfortable start.
After 4–5 hours of hiking, you arrive at Mandara Hut for hot dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

After breakfast, the climb continues through rainforest until reaching the open moorland zone. Unique vegetation such as giant heathers and wildflowers appear along the trail.
You will reach Horombo Hut after about 6 hours, offering spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day – Hike to Zebra Rocks

This extra day is dedicated to acclimatization, allowing your body to adapt to higher altitudes. The guided hike takes you up to Zebra Rocks, known for their black-and-white mineral patterns.
After spending time at the higher elevation, return to Horombo Hut for lunch, rest, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

The landscape changes dramatically as you trek through the alpine desert toward Kibo Hut. This section, known as “The Saddle,” stretches between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks and resembles a barren lunar landscape.
The hike takes 5–6 hours. Once at Kibo Hut (4,700m), you rest early and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, then Down to Horombo Hut

Around midnight, the final ascent begins. The climb to Gilman’s Point is steep and challenging, especially due to altitude, but with slow steps and teamwork, you reach the crater rim.
From Gilman’s Point, continue across the ridge to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and taking photos, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for the night.

Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

After breakfast, descend through moorland and rainforest back to Marangu Gate. The final stretch takes about 6 hours.
Upon reaching the gate, climbers receive certificate awards—green for Gilman’s Point and gold for Uhuru Peak. Transfer back to Moshi/Arusha marks the end of the adventure.
