4 Days Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha → Tarangire National Park

Your 4-day safari begins with morning pickup from your hotel or airport in Arusha. After a short tour briefing, you will drive to Tarangire National Park — a stunning wildlife haven famous for its giant baobab trees and the highest concentration of elephants in Tanzania.

Start your game drive across the vast savannah and woodlands. Tarangire is home to lions, leopards, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, antelopes, ostriches, and many bird species. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a lifeline for wildlife, attracting thousands of animals and creating some of the best viewing opportunities.

You will enjoy lunch at a scenic picnic site inside the park, followed by an afternoon game drive. Later, exit the park and head toward your lodge area for dinner and relaxation.

Day 2: Tarangire → Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for Serengeti National Park, traveling through the green highlands of Ngorongoro. Enjoy stunning views as you descend into the endless plains of the Serengeti.

Upon arrival, begin your game drive across one of the most famous wildlife ecosystems in the world. Serengeti is known for its large lion prides, excellent leopard sightings, cheetah populations, and massive herds of wildebeest and zebras. Depending on the season, you may witness parts of the Great Migration — one of the world’s most extraordinary natural events.

In the afternoon, continue exploring the plains and river valleys before heading to your overnight area within the Serengeti region.

Day 3: Serengeti → Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Start your day with an early sunrise game drive — the best time to witness predators like lions and cheetahs on the hunt. Morning light also creates excellent photographic moments across the golden savannah.

Return for breakfast, then continue your game drive while slowly exiting the Serengeti. You will stop for a picnic lunch before driving toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival, you will enjoy panoramic views of the Ngorongoro Crater from the rim — one of Africa’s most breathtaking natural wonders.

Later in the afternoon, head to your lodge area near the crater rim for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater → Arusha

After an early breakfast, descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over 25,000 animals, including all members of the Big Five.

Explore the crater floor, passing through lush forests, grassy plains, freshwater lakes, and marshlands. Ngorongoro is one of the best places in Africa to spot the rare black rhino, often seen in the open plains or near the crater’s forest edges. You will also encounter lions, hippos, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, zebras, wildebeest, flamingos, and countless bird species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at the famous Hippo Pool viewpoint. After lunch, continue your game drive before ascending the crater walls and beginning your journey back to Arusha, where your 4 Days Tanzania Safari Big 5 Tour concludes.
