6 Days Safari Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Depart from Arusha in the morning and drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its towering baobab trees and massive elephant herds. A full game drive takes you across the golden savannah where you can spot giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, lions, buffalo, ostriches, and many more species.
Tarangire is especially rich in predators and migratory wildlife during the dry season. After the game drive, proceed to the overnight area in Tarangire or Mto wa Mbu region.
Day 2: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, travel through the scenic highlands of Ngorongoro on the way to the vast Serengeti National Park. Upon entering the Serengeti, you will immediately begin encountering wildlife—antelopes, giraffes, elephants, lions, hyenas, and more.
Spend the afternoon exploring the famous Seronera Valley, known as the best place to spot leopards. In the evening, relax in your camp area surrounded by the magical Serengeti plains.
Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti
Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the Serengeti. You will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, maximizing your chances of spotting big cats, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Depending on the season, you might witness the spectacular Great Migration of wildebeests and zebras as they move in massive herds across the plains. Your guide will take you to prime viewing areas, river crossings, or predator hotspots.
Expect scenic sunrises, sweeping plains, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.
Day 4: Another Full Day in Serengeti Plains
A second full day in the Serengeti gives you time to dive deeper into the park’s diverse regions. Explore river corridors, acacia woodlands, rocky kopjes (lion hideouts), and open savannah.
You will experience different behaviors throughout the day—from predators hunting at dawn to elephants and giraffes feeding through the afternoon. This extended exploration provides extraordinary photographic opportunities.
As the day ends, enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by the sounds of the wild.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim
Enjoy one last sunrise game drive in the Serengeti—an excellent moment to spot predators on the move before the heat of the day. Later, begin your journey back through the Serengeti plains toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Arrive at the crater rim in the afternoon and marvel at the breathtaking views of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Overnight near the crater rim or Karatu area.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Lake Manyara – Arusha
Start early and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for one of the most rewarding wildlife experiences in Africa. The crater floor hosts more than 25,000 large animals, including lions, black rhinos, elephants, hippos, and flamingos.
After an intensive game drive inside the crater, drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a short afternoon visit. Lake Manyara is known for tree-climbing lions, large elephant families, and beautiful birdlife around the soda lake.
Later, drive back to Arusha, marking the end of your incredible 6-day Tanzania safari.
