5 Days Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Zanzibar and Stone Town Exploration
Upon arrival at Zanzibar International Airport or Ferry Terminal, your guide will welcome you and transfer you to your Stone Town hotel. After settling in, enjoy a guided Stone Town City Tour. This walking experience takes you through the narrow alleys and old historical sites such as the Old Slave Market, House of Wonders, Darajani Market, Arab Fort, Forodhani Gardens, and the Old Dispensary. You will learn about Zanzibar’s history, including the spice trade, Arab influence, and Swahili traditions. Enjoy dinner and overnight in Stone Town.
Day 2 – Prison Island Tour and Nakupenda Sandbank Experience
After breakfast, take a traditional dhow or wooden boat to Prison Island (Changuu Island). Discover the famous giant Aldabra tortoises, some over 150 years old. You’ll also explore the old prison building and enjoy snorkeling around the island’s coral reefs.
After the short visit, continue by boat to Nakupenda Sandbank. This is a natural sand islet surrounded by crystal-clear ocean water. Spend your day swimming, snorkeling, sunbathing, relaxing, and enjoying a fresh seafood BBQ served right on the sandbank. Later return to Stone Town for another night.
Day 3 – Spice Farm Tour and Transfer to Nungwi or Kendwa Beach
In the morning, you visit one of Zanzibar’s popular spice plantations where you’ll learn how spices such as cloves, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, ginger, and cardamom are grown. Taste fresh tropical fruits, drink herbal teas, and enjoy a guided nature walk around the farm.
After the spice tour, drive north to the beautiful beaches of Nungwi or Kendwa. These locations are famous for white sand, blue waters, calm swimming conditions, and perfect sunsets. Spend the evening relaxing at the beach or exploring the area. Overnight at a beach hotel.
Day 4 – Full Day Relaxation at Nungwi or Kendwa Beach
This is a full leisure day to enjoy the beach at your own pace. You can relax on the soft sand, swim in the clear water, or take part in optional activities such as Mnemba Atoll snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, kayaking, jet skiing, deep-sea fishing, sunset dhow cruise, or water sports. Enjoy fresh seafood and beach nightlife if you wish. Overnight at the beach hotel.
Day 5 – Departure Day
Enjoy your final morning at the beach, take photos, relax, or go for a last swim. Depending on your flight or ferry schedule, your driver will transfer you back to Stone Town for departure. This marks the end of your 5-day Zanzibar tour.
